چکیده

Additive manufacturing of Duplex Stainless Steels (DSS) and Super (SDSS) has been successfully demonstrated using LPBF in recent years, however, both alloys feature an almost fully ferritic microstructure the as-built condition due to fast cooling rates associated with Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF) process. Blends DSS SDSS powders were formulated austenitic stainless-steel 316L powder, aiming achieve increased austenite formation during potentially minimize post heat treatments (solution annealing quenching). characteristics investigated process parameters optimized produce near dense parts. Nanoindentation (NI) tests conducted measure, not only local mechanical properties correlate them microstructure, but also gain a deeper understanding deformation behavior individual phases that cannot be studied directly by macroscopic tensile tests. Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) Backscatter Diffraction (EBSD) employed for microstructural analysis phase quantification. The EBSD maps revealed increase microstructures. Blend 1 resulted duplex consisting 10% at XY plane 20% XZ plane. content increasing proportion stainless steel powder blends. blend required much higher volumetric energy density fabrication This imposed slower solidification melt pool homogeneity, allowing adequate diffusion stabilizing elements. presented workflow findings from this study provide valuable insights into mixing development custom rapid material screening LPBF.

Study of the Microstructure and Cracking Mechanisms of Hastelloy X Produced by Laser Powder Bed Fusion

Hastelloy X (HX) is a Ni-based superalloy which suffers from high crack susceptibility during the laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) process. In this work, the microstructure of as-built HX samples was rigorously investigated to understand the main mechanisms leading to crack formation. The microstructural features of as-built HX samples consisted of very fine dendrite architectures with dimensions...

Effect of Thermomechanical Processing on the Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of a Duplex Stainless Steel

Duplex stainless steels (DSSS) have a microstructure composed of ferrite and austenite phases that gives them a very good combination of mechanical and corrosion properties. These steels are desirable for many applications in the chemical and petrochemical industries. In the present study, a type of stainless steel was cast, solution annealed at 1200°C for 60 min and then quenched in water. Ini...

Study on Static Recrystallization Process in Duplex Stainless Steel 2205

Steel 2205 is one of the most famous duplex stainless steels. The microstructure of this steel composed of ferrite and austenite in similar amount. Therefore, in order to improve mechanical properties through microstructure, thermo mechanical processes such as controlled hot rolling and forging should be applied. It is not possible to employ the usual heat treatment. It shows the importance of ...

Compressibility of 304 Stainless Steel Powder Metallurgy Materials Reinforced with 304 Short Stainless Steel Fibers

Powder metallurgy (P/M) technique is usually used for manufacturing porous metal materials. However, some P/M materials are limitedly used in engineering for their performance deficiency. A novel 304 stainless steel P/M material was produced by a solid-state sintering of 304 stainless steel powders and 304 short stainless steel fibers, which were alternately laid in layers according to mass rat...
